Shortened Fiscal Year

Hi ,

I want to know when changing from your current fiscal year variant to a shortend fiscal year variant do you change your crrent fiscal year variant to be a shortened fiscal year variant?

And if so what changes should I make?

Hoi Jan,

We created a new fiscal year variant.

You have to assign this to the company code, controlling area. In asset accounting you have to say if you do in the shorted fiscal year for 1 year depreciation or not.

I hoop only that you don't have created postings in these periods

On SAP notes you can found a lot of information.

Thank you so much for the good answer.

Just to make sure.Our fiscal year runs from March - Feb. Must now change to July - June.

So I will have a shortened fiscal year March to June.

When creating the shortened fiscal year I should make it year dependant with 12 periods 1-4 as shortened periods and 1 - 8 as normal periods for the next normal fiscal year which will be July to June.

Also what happens to this variant after the shortened fiscal year?When we go over to a normal 12 periods year again?

Jan Breet,

Step 1: Maintain a fiscal year variant (year dependent) or create one

Step 2: Maintain values in the shortened fiscal year section (period 1 to 4)

Step 3: As far as July 08 to June 09 goes select another variant which is neither calendar year nor year dependent. In other words do not check the boxes in both columns.

Step 4: Maintain period values for this variant

Shortened Fiscal Year is year dependent you have to declare in OB29.

Shortended Fiscal year means periods less than 12 perionds

why u have to switch to shortend fiscal year? once fiscal year configure as per rules its not changeble but u have to open and clsoe the period

some instance example client sap implementation at the middle of fiscal yeat at the time only it is advisable
