MaxDB Database Manager, can't start up after installation.

I installed MaxDB Database Manager. The installation went flawless, without changing anything to the default settings.

However, afterwards it turned out that no short-cut icon was created on my desktop. Also, there is no trace of Windows > Programs > MaxDB, or of a MaxDB.exe.

If I look in Program Files the program is apparently indeed installed under Program Files/sdb/MaxDB. There's even a second installation (Program Files/sdb/MaxDB1) because I tried to reinstall after the short-cut was not added. Hope that won't have an adverse effect. Anyway, the program didn't work even without that second installation.

How do I start it up?

PS: afterwards I also installed SQL Studio, which starts up without any problems. However, it's unable to connect with MaxDB (throws an error).

Hi,

you did install the Database Studio as you said two times - so there should be an installation on your PC.

Ok, having said this - you can install DB Studio on any PC, it does not have to be the server itself. But it makes life sometimes more easy if it is on the same PC as the SAP System itself.

The usual installation folder would be: C:\sapdb\clients\DatabaseStudio\dbstudio.exe

If you can not find it - do a search in Windows for dbstudio.exe to get it.

Ok, the log file itself: search for a folder called .metadata on your PC. This should contain the log files of your installation.

Technical background: MAX DB Studio is an addon to Eclipse. So all you need at the end is java and eclipse installed. If there is no Java you usually can not install the Software, cause Installer checks this - but to get an idea on what goes wrong, you need to find the log files first so you have an idea at least where to look at.

Hope that gives a hint on where to have a look.

Regards,

Oliver

check whether you antivirus MCAfee is not blocking or there is no windows security updates blocking/making-invisible your application. The database studio can be check in the location

C:\sapdb\clients\DatabaseStudio\dbstudio

it looks like you yourself are not searching for the issue, if you get the slightest error also, you will totally depend on SCN to get solution for that because that part is really not reflecting in anywhere in your posts. I am saying this Because, you are using Windows & where in the start menu in the above pic it is reflecting as database studio, you could have at least done right-click & -> go to the Open Folder Location to go to the database studio location in C: drive.

Did you at least try after uninstalling the MCAfee?? because that part is not showing here.

Thanks,

Kaushik

Download and install the MaxDB Database Studio. You can connect to the database and do the MaxDB database administration using that. You can use the command line option for MaxDB which is the DBMCLI tool.

Thx Benjamin. I installed MaxDB Database Studio. Again, no short-cut was created on my desktop. Only in the Windows menu an icon is showing (see top of picture). But clicking has not effect.

The DOS-command "DBMCLI" is not recognized by my system.
