What can I do with SAP Cloud Platform (SCP) for iOS SDK?

Hi everyone!

I have participated in a SAP Cloud Platform for iOS SDK course, but I leaved the course with some questions... First, what is the use of it? I mean, we already have Fiori Apps whose work fine in iOS, so the SCP for iOS SDK only build apps with native components from iOS?

In my understanding, the SCP is a manager for apps, destinations and etc. i.e. can I create a schema and use it on my UI5 and iOS apps at the same time? Those will use the same database?

I have been watching some videos about it but I still with this questions in my mind. I apreciate any help.

There's a difference between "works fine" and "works great". Fo instance if you just want to create a leave request on your device once in a while, a Fiori app might be just fine. However if you are going to use the app on your device multiple times every single day, the app needs to be better than "fine". It needs to be highly responsive, offline enabled etc. so a native app developed with the SDK would probably be a lot better in this case.

You can reuse the oData services you develop for your Fiori apps and use them with the SDK to create a native mobile app. This way you can reuse most of the backend code and only have to re-develop the client.

Even 4 months after your answer I want to thank you for the explanation.

Just one more question, is there any Android SDK too or just an iOS SDK for now?

Again, thank you a lot.

Best regards,

Hello Alexander

As of now we dont have any Android SDK, you can still consume the services via Android Native components. No Fiori like Android SDK as of now.
