Free goods

Hi Gurus,

I'm trying to create an inclusive free goods however, its not appearing in my sales order. one thing i noticed is that im getting this info msg whenever i create an order: The system did not find a valid bill of material. what does that mean?

i already checked all of the configurations in the system and i also created a condition record for that. whats causing this?

Hi John

Goto VOV7 TCode and check what is the structure scope for the Item Category if it is 'A' change it to blank.This will solve 'system did not find a valid bill of material' problem and for free tell the error in detail.

hello, friend.

there could be a few reasons for this.

but obviously, the system was trying to find a BOM for your material and none was valid as of that time. for this, look into your material master using MM02/MM03. go to the Sales org 2 view and look at the item category group fields. i am guessing at least one of them contains either ERLA, LUMF or a similar item category group. change the value back to NORM and test the transaction again.

also check if the free goods determination has been activated for your sales organization.

i've checked the item cat group and it is set as norm. the sales org is also activated for the free goods but it still gives the same message. when i activated the free goods analysis, i got this message: Free goods could not be determined for item 000030 (reason 3). any thoughts?

hi,

pl check in VBN3 for the line item 30 if the free goods were maintained properly. Might just be that 30 line item is also a BOM header for some other list of products, so please check in CS03 for this material. Now might be that the systme is trying find this BOM, but since free goods does not support BOM you may be getting thsi message.
