One target and two releasing clients. Is it possible?

Hi,

I have one gold client 100 where all configuration work is done and released for unit testing and integration testing.

Other client 101 where all development work is being done (RICEF objects), can we go ahead and release their transports from here or do they need to be copied to 100 and release only from one source client?

Help is appriciated.

Thanks in advance

Ideally all the configuration and development should be done in the same client... I don't see the point in developing on a client that does not have the same configuration as the QA system... anyhow...

In my opinion... you should transport all your developments/customizations to your client 100 and then transport to the QA environment.

QA has recently been introuduced into the STMS.

From your solution I have to create a new transport layer to reflect all development transports going into the Gold or customizing client? 101-->100

Can it be done in this way, I will create a new transport layer and in it tranports released from 101 Dev client go directly to QA 200 rather than going to 100 and then going to 200??

Is it possible to create a new tranport layer within the same system? as what I know is transport layers can be created when you have more than one development systems.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

development is cross client,so what ever you developed in client 100 is available in client 101. Why don't you just transport from both clients into one (or multiple) target clients on QA? Of course you have to create and release transport requests in both source clients, but you have to do this as well when you transport everything from 100 -> 101 first.

Hi Mihhajur ,

The answer from Jochen pretty much explains it all.

Hi Jochen,

Strictly speaking development is same across all the clients not because of cross client nature (a term which actually is reserved for customizing ) but because development is actually changes done to respository.Client-specific/Cross client is basically restricted to table/view entires and few other things. Entire development falls under repository.
