Hi All
I have good knowledge on BI, i am planning to learn MDM, could u please any one tell me whether is it useful, and give me suggestions regarding my decision.
Thanks & Regards
Hi Krishna,
You are already in a ver good area.As BI is a very new and useful tool.Bi has taken care of almost all the major junk of Reporting form SAP R/3 and it growing at a very fast rate.
Learning a new technolgy is definitely a good decision but how useful is the new choice in line with your exsisting skills is the question.
MDM is an SAP developed tool for managing master data.
and BI is an SAP developed tool for reporting on Data.
If your master data is not accurate and correct and in good shape definitely it will result in incorrect reporting ,wrong analysis and ultimately an adverse effect on Business.
So BI and MDM goes Hand in Hand.
If one knows both MDM and BI he can definitely come with better analysis that other which is a good advantage over many other.
besides you do not need any specific prior knowledge to learn MDM and as BI and MDM understand each other in terms of Format understanding .Data flow between the two systems is easy and useful
So I suggest your decision to learn MDM is a wise choice.
Hope it helped
Kindly reward points if found useful
Thanks
Simona

Hi Krishna,
I think it will be a very good decision on your part if you are planning to learn MDM.
MDM is a tool whose foundation is based on Integration with many systems ( Legacy and ERP).
I have myself done many scenarios, but the most adequate scenario was BI integrating with MDM.
As you know BI is a reporting tool and the Precise reporting depends upon the precise quality of Master data. MDM is a tool to clean up and Consolidate Master data of source systems. Then MDM exports this Consolidated Data out to BI.
BI can then use this data to generate highly accurate reports. (Consolidated and Local reports). BI-MDM is one scenario which is absolutely free from any loop holes.
Also in addition to that MDM is picking up the market, and it will very beneficial as SAP is moving towards the ESOA. MDM will be the base for ESOA.
I would like to advice you to start going through MDM refrence guides, to learn MDM.

Hi
As per you have chosen very hot field.
MDM is a Master data managing tool and BI is a Reporting tool, both are SAP developed tool and the file exchange mechanism between them is such that they can easily communicate with each other.
MDM is to consolidate master records and then eliminate duplicate among them by assigning a global Id .
Bi is a reporting tool which is used for analysis purpose ,MDM will syndicate the consolidated result to BI this will help it do Correct reporting on the cleansed records which will deliver correct result that will eventually help in improving business.
Here i am saying use of BI in MDM
It is useful to u and it's good decision. If u want any help regarding MDM Sure i will help u.
I will send u good stuff to u. can u give me ur id.
