Hello Colleagues,
in the near future we plan to setup a new SAP PI NW 7.5 AEX Java Only environment with several additional application servers.
What is the recommendation for incoming HTTP interfaces regarding load balancing to the individual application servers.
SAP PI Message Server (SCS) or WebDispatcher?
I found some hints regarding internal SAP PI HTTP ICM load balancing configuration as well recommendation to SAP WebDispatcher in general.
1724179 - Configuration Wizard: PI HTTP Load Balancer
1040325 - HTTP load balancing: Message Server or Web Dispatcher?
Furthermore there are limitations for stateful connections over the Message Server.
But I missing direct informations/recommendations regarding SAP PI with WebDispatcher or not.
Many thanks in advance!
Regards,
Jochen Schertel
Hi Liz,
many thanks for clarification!
Perfect, so we will go ahead with WebDispatcher.
Then I can only wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Regards,
Jochen

Hi Jochen,
Definitely, it is the web dispatcher. We always recommend the customer to use SAP web dispatcher to perform the load balancing for PI regardless of dual stack or single one. Since Message Server has much of limitation for load balancing, e.g. http request redirect, stateful session as you already have known.
