BI Portal, FPN, and KM

With BI 7.0, the BI portal can then be integrated into your Enterprise Portal network using the Federated Portal network concept. However, things get murky when you look at Information Broadcasting and KM Content publishing with BI and a FPN.

SAP also recommends that if you're using KM in a FPN, you should host a single instance of KM, either on the producer portal (for fast writes), or on the consumer portal (for fast reads). Hosting KM on the Consumer makes sense, since this is where KM notifications will go (think Universal Work List) - it's also the primary point of entry for your user base, so it also makes sense to use it as the primary KM....

The issue is, however, that SAP doesn't offer any guidance on how to configure KM on the producer portals to redirect documents to the KM folders on the Consumer. Yes, they say how to setup the Producer KM to work with a Consumer portal KM, but not specifically for BI.

There are two KM user folders that are used on the BI portal: /BIuserhome and /userhome. To redirect these two folders to the consumer portal, would I just do the following:

1. Create a CM repository on the Consumer, which is configured similarly to /BIuserhome on the producer.

2. Rename the two folders on the Producer.

3. Create two WebDAV repositories that have the same mount point as the two renamed folders, and point them at the folders on the Consumer.

Assuming that access is configured correctly, this should work. Or, is this simple change missing something fundamental?

Has someone out there integrated the KM on the BI portal into the Consumer portal? If so, what steps did you perform?
