Requirements to CLOSED a project

Dear All,

I need your advice in Closed a project ? what requirements must be fulfill before Closed a project ?

As far as i know, if there is still open commitments and Asset is not fully transfered to Fixed asset yet. We cannot closed the project.

I tried to closed a project with status that there are still open commitments and still have AUC, there is no message error, seems that system just hanging without notification and i cannot save it, and also the status still in TECO. Is there any SAP notes that when we close a project but there is still open commitment and AUC, system will prompt message.

Please advice.

Hi,

The basic requirment for Closing a project is there should n't be any open items of Cost, all the activity should be confrimed finally. As per standard SAP, warning message will generated in case of trying to close the projects with Open items. However we can change the warning message into error message so that system won't allow change project status into CLSD with any open items.

Can you please tell me as to where we can do the configuration which you were talking about so that the system comes up with an error message instead of an warning message. I actually have a problem in a report which displays the list of projects and their changeability to CLSD status. CJ20N comes up with an error message (CJ824) as : "Error when processing asset under construction (AuC) for WBS element". I went through the message class CJ & found all occurences of where they were raising this corresponding message. The error message is raised at only 1 instance & the system doesn't ever go through this code for my project ID. So I just wanted to check if they have configured for an error message to be displayed somewhere else. Please help me with this issue.

I also found notification "Error when processing asset under construction (AuC) for WBS element NEW-ACCTMU01-CME-A"

I cannot save and the status still in TECO.

It is not possible to close a WBS element (set Status CLSD) IF there are outstanding commitments (i.e.PR or PO)

Or if you use Results Analysis within your Project you will need to clear any WIP values by settling to FI before you will be able to close the WBS

For your Capital Projects in addition to the above - I would assume it would depend upon the settings in your Settlement Profile -

Do they say that "Settlement is Required" if so...then you will be unable to close the WBS element until all costs have been settled off the WBS element

If "Can be settled" is selected then you will able to close the WBS element with costs still on the WBS element

Note - these are system checks only...business process may require further checks to be in place prior to someone closing a WBS element e.g. for customer projects a check that all Sales have been Invoiced and received

The normal Settlement after RA should take care of this. Right? I did his step and trying to close the project. Getting the message that there are still actual in lower level WBS.

When I settle do I need to select u201Cwith hierarchy : and u201Cwith orderu201D
