Hi,

IDoc is container through which u can send the data between two systems in R/3 environment.

Idoc is having structure like

1 Control record 2 data Record 3 status record

Sender side achnoldgments comes,if u take syncronious type of communication it will send Ack.

Hi Suman,

Acknowledge means:

Acknowledgments enable you to confirm that an asynchronous message has been received. You must explicitly request acknowledgments in the application program and can specify what kind of confirmation you want to receive.

· Positive or negative acknowledgments

· System acknowledgments used by the runtime environment to confirm that an asynchronous message has reached the receiver.

· Application acknowledgments used to confirm that the asynchronous message has been successfully processed at the receiver.

In the application program you can query and evaluate the status of an acknowledgment.

If u have send somthing to receiver system and receiver send some kind of notification message saying that whatever is send it received.

therea re two kinds of Ack one is positive ack and one is negative ack.

for positive ack the sender sends the another message.

for negative ack sender will bome to know that message has some error or message is not reached to system.

Similarly for IDOC also we get the bydefault ack.

The following acknowledgments are sent back by default, unless the corresponding message

type is maintained in an exception table

• System error acknowledgment

• Application acknowledgment

• Application error acknowledgment.

IDocs only return acknowledgments if the receiver is configured for using ALE audit.

ALE audit is only possible for IDocs of type logical system (LS).

Q1) These IDOC Ack is used in case of IDOC is the Sender or in case of the Receiver???

Always sender ask for the Ack from recevier system.

thnx

Well Chirag,

But what is my Q is can we use this IDOC Ack in the Following Scenarios

1) File---IDOC

2)IDOC---File

3)IDOC--IDOC

Hi,

1) File---IDOC- I think yes I have not tried.

2)IDOC---File-No for this u require separate design and configuration for sending Ack and Nack.

3)IDOC--IDOC-Yes (Link is already provided)

any more questions left.

Hi,

If u have read the blog then it says that:

The system acknowledgement sent by the file adapter is converted into an ALE audit message and sent back to the sender SAP system by an IDOC ACK channel configured in XI(an IDOC receiver adapter).

How is is done that is not specified as I have never tried that but it will be intresting to try.

Also in my response I said NO but if u design and configure new secemario for ACK and NACk then it is possible. as in my current project we r doing the same thing.

The system acknowledgement sent by the file adapter is converted into an ALE audit message and sent back to the *sender SAP system by an IDOC ACK channel configured in XI(an IDOC receiver adapter).

How it is done that is not specified as I have never tried that but it will be intresting to try.

Guys,

it'd be better to point out the updated docs (for netweaver 7.0) instead of old versions.
