Asset End Of Useful Life

Dear SAP Gurus,

How can I found out about Asset End of Useful Life, for instance if Asset Acquisition on 01.04.2004 with useful life 4 years, the end of useful life should be on 31.03.2008 (where can I find this information about the end of useful life)? Thanks in advance for your help..

Best Regards,

Lisa Yanti

    Dear Lisa,

the useful life is a parameter of the depreciation area of an asset. Together with the depreciation key they are the main parameters to configure depreciation. Normally, you enter this parameter in the depreciation area section of AS01 when creating the asset.

The depreciation start date is defined by the period control settings. You could say, for example, that depreciation starts next month (period control key 11) depending on the date of acquisition, then it will start to depreciate for example 01.04.2008 if you post an acquisition on 15.03.2008. Or you are saying that it should start always at beginning of the year, then it will start 01.01.2008 whatever is the acquisition date

in 2008. Therefore, it depends on these parameters, when depreciation ends. Furthermore, it depends, if you allow depreciation after end of useful life.

If you create the asset, you can analyze the depreciation in the asset explorer AW01N, there you can access the tab "Comparisons" to have a look at the depreciation over the years. By this way you can analyze when it ends.

In AS03 you will also see information about the useful life for assets already created.

I hope this information helps you.

    Best regards,

    Sven

For individual Asset I can calculate manually when the end of useful life will be, but for thousands of asset I hardly think that I should done it manually. I could do by means of worksheet of course but If SAP provide the information I wouldn't have to do the calculation by my self. Anyway thanks for your answer.

How about using this fields of table ANLC:

NDABJ NDABJ NUMC 3 0 Expired useful life in years at start of the fiscal year

NDABP NDABP NUMC 3 0 Expired useful life in periods at start of fiscal year

Together with the depreciation start date you can calculate when depreciation ends.
