Integration of remote SD with local FI implementation - IDOCs and BAPI

Have anyone seen an external SAP R/3 SD implementation posting to local SAP R/3 FI system?

Which IDOCs, BAPI's have been used for this distributed SD-FI integration?

I'm not a functional but I guess you might go for INVOIC message type to send billing docs.
