Error in config tool in production system

Hi all,

In one of our production systems,when we login into the config tool we get the following error

"Error message while working with configuration(Scanning).

Msg:Error while connecting to DB."

There is no problem with the Abap instance or the Java instance.All are working fine.R3trans also works fine.

We need to make some configuration changes to the portal,which we have to make through the config tool.

Visual admin tool works fine.Sometimes it also gives a ping timeout error but otherwise it works fine

Any help that comes my way would be appreciated.
