Hello friends,
1) In order to establish connection between R/3 and XI...
What are the things we have to do...
2)do we need any HTTP type RFC connection from SAP R/3 to XI side
Hi,
If you are doing IDOC or RFC/BAPI Scenario's with SAP R/3 means we have to create the RFC Destination of Type 3.
If you are doing the Proxy means we have to create the RFC of Type H to configure the Integration Engine. To connect the R/3 Application server to Integration Server.

Hi Sunil.,
As XI was on Java and ABAP stack, we can connect R/3 using IDOC or RFC. and we can custmize the data structure if existing was not present,
And we have an another new concept called PROXY which avoids the usage of adapter in the XI Environment.
So, Inorder to connect to the R/3 System we can directly configure the ABAP proxy to communicate the messages.
Through Registered server programs and BAPI's we can call this using RFC adapter to comunicate with R/3 system.
regards.,
Kishore

Hi,
like Seshagiri said the standard ways are:
IDoc (RFC type 3):
RFC (RFC type T):
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/25/76cd3bae738826e10000000a11402f/frameset.htm
and Proxy.
