Enter and Displaying Comments in Integrated Planning - BPS-Comments.

Hi,

In previous version of BPS, you can enter comments and display those comments for each line item (see How to Display all Comments for a Planning Package). Can this be done with new BI 7.0 Ingetrated Planning? If not-which is really dissappointing as comments are fundalmental functionality in part of planning, can we apply the same concept using BSP with Integrated Planning. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Yes, we are awared of BI document functionality. However, this is great for explaining a key figure within the layout but can not be tied to a transaction line item. In addition, this comment is global rather per selection i.e., cost center/cost element.

Hi,

To tie the comment to one cost center, you should enable cost centre to 'document property' (in the infoobject properties). And you can train your users to create comment for one particular column for commenting on a line item. Thats what we did in our project.

Hi,

Thanks for the recommendation, we will explore this option since there's not really a choice for us to capture commnents in Integrated Planning-line item or cell. For the short term, this will do. Our next challenge is how dow we display or print comments which need to be aligned with the transaction. We want to apply the same concept as depicted in the "How to Display All Comments for Planning Package - V 2.00 2006" document.

Cheers,

Hi,

You must be building a web template for your planning application (I think the BI comments functionality works only in web and not in excel, yet). In the propeties of the WT, you should select the save level of documents to 'infoprovider level' and not 'query level'. This will enable you to retrieve comments from the underlying infoprovider in other queries - to retrieve a comment, you will need to have the same drilldown characteristics in the report against which the comment was created.

You can create a data provider in the WT for this reporting query and assign it to a document item which will display the comment(s).
