I am having one Query for LiveCache DB Volumes.
LC10 -> Configuration -> Volumes
~
It is showing Total no of Volumes : 23 and Extendable
online to 250.
Does this configuration means, if the new volume is
required, it will be extended automatically and will create new data
volume DATA0024 - > /sapdb/LCD/sapdata/DISK0024 ? or we have to do it
manually?
Appreciate your help.
Thanks
Best Regards,
Basis CK
Hello,
-> What is the version of the database instance?
-> " It is showing Total no of Volumes : 23 and Extendable online to 250."
What is the size of the datavolumes? Do you really need the 250 data volumes.
Please review the general recommendations in the SAP note ::
820824 FAQ: MaxDB / SAP liveCache technology
&&
update with output of 'param_getvolsall' dbm command.
And you could run 'param_getexplain MaxDataVolumes' to see the meaning of the database parameter 'MaxDataVolumes'.
Did you run the 'sizing' checks to estimate how much data are you planning to have in liveCache?
-> "LC10 -> Configuration -> Volumes
~
It is showing Total no of Volumes : 23 and Extendable online to 250."
It means that the activated MaxDataVolumes liveCache parameter is 250.
You could add the data volumes to 250 volume using the DBMGUI or in LC10 when the liveCache online.
When there is no more memory available in the database, the database hangs. You must make free memory available
in the form of a new data volume. You can add new volumes while the database is online.
More information about this topic is available is in the liveCache documentation (SAP Note 767598) in the glossary, under the keyword
"data volume".
-> You could run the dbm command, for example, 'auto_extend SHOW' to see if you configured your database system in such a way that it automatically adds a new data volume as soon as the fill level of the data area reaches a certain percentage.
The number of data volumes that can be added in online operation is limited by the value of the MAXDATAVOLUMES database parameter.
To get more information run the dbm command 'explain auto_extend', go to the database documentation,
See SAP note 767598.
Thank you and best regards, Natalia Khlopina
