    Hi Mohan

For configurable Materials, in general, the recommended strategy Groups are : 81/82/83.
    81 >>> Assemble to Order >>>Planned Orders/Repetitive
82 >>> Assemble to Order >>> Production Orders
83 >>> Assemble to Order >>> Network Orders

When you create the Sales Order & save, System will automatically create the Planned/Production/Network Order in the background
Could you please try, by changing the Planning Strategy from 40 to 81/82/83( as required, set any one) & try to create the sales Order. Then the system will create the Planned/Production/Network Order automatically, as per the Strategy assigned in the Material Master.
Kindly let me know your feedback, for any other details/info required.
    Thanks & Regards : Raja.

    Hello

A MTS production order cannot be created for a configurable material. When using variant configuration, the production order configuration is generally inherited from the sales order, therefore, an assignment to the individual sales stock is necessary here.

I suggest you to first create a configurable sales order, then run MRP to generate planned orders and finally convert the planned order to production order.

If you still don't have a sales order, you can explore the planning strategies for variants:
