I am wondering if IDT or a 3rd party tool allows multiple developers working on the same idt par-rally instead of sequentially using lock and unlock function.

eg multiple developer working the same universe version 2.0 on a difference area, then the tool show difference and merge those differences into a newer version of IDT 3.0

an ability to “branch, merge” like IBM Cognos Framework Manager the changes either on a regular basis (i.e., weekly). We are ok with “some” manual processes here for example to coordinate among the Devs via a weekly process or other.

IDT doesn't do it, and I'm not aware of any third-party product that does.

The best you can do with out-of-the-box IDT is Shared Projects. This allows developers to more easily work on different parts of a project -- one developer can work on the data foundation while another works on the business layer. Then, the two developers can update their data foundation or business layer with the changes made by the other. It does not allow for synchronization of changes within the same component.

With that said, the Shared Projects feature is still in its infancy. There is no security applied, so a project that is shared is accessible by everyone else. And the interface is fairy clunky.
