Check if your listner is running?

Has any windows updates been recently applied to SQL Server or SAP Windows 2003 box?

Was this working earlier or is a new installation?

Dear Tomasz Siedlecki,

1. Login to system as sidadm

2. Open cmd prompt and execute R3trans -d. It will create a trans.log file in the corresponding folder from where you run this command

3.Review the trans.log to find out the error

Hi,

Is your sap system name xxx?

Try using a administrator user.

Vamshi.

Hi Tom,

Try following steps

1. stop the DB

2. Stop all services

3. Restart the server.

4. Login as SIDadm.

5. start all services

6. start the DB

7. Start SAP from MMC

A simple restart can also solve the problem.

Hope this help

Hi Tom,

Check whether message server is running or not?

If running, then check dispatcher is connected to message server or not?

You can check both the things in SAP MMC.

Hope this help.

Hi Tomasz,

As per error

"An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections"

Check that SQL settings to see if you have enough sessions configured.

Well... something is very wrong then... if you instance is installed in SQL2000 and the system is pointing to 2005 then you have an issue...

Did you ever logon to this system successfully?

Hi Tomasz,

Did you also check the Note referenced in Note 351586, Note 116735? It says:

>Troubleshooting

>===============

>If there is a connection problem, you can set profile parameter

>

>dbs/oledb/verbose =1

>

>and you will see additional information in the dev_w?? files in the

>sapmnt\<SID>\dvebmgs00\work directory.

This may give more information as to why the DB connection is not working.

Best Regards,

Matt

Hi Tomasz,

Since this is a copied system, there must be something wrong with the connection settings. Please see Note 98678 about SQL Server Connection Issues. If this does not help, I suggest opening a message with SAP Support and have them debug the issue.

Best Regards,

Matt

Hi Thomas,

you can deploy UME SDA´s again.oss 942050.

Eimal

Former Member

Hi Eimal,

That will not help in this case, as this is not a "user" problem, rather a database user connection problem, which is completeley different from UME.

Matt

Hi Matt

I don’t know if you have not find the solution to your problem but I had a similar problem with my system which I have just sorted out.

After extensive search on various forums I have learnt that this problem has a number of reasons to occur.

My solution was as follows:

All of the services that were created using the ADM user on installation must consistently have the correct password as set up in the installation.

If somewhere in the lifetime of your system these passwords change then it must be done in all the affected service.

To mention a few

The SAP(instance no) for sap service,

The Oscolecter service

The db MSSQLSERVER service

The db SQLSERVERAGENT service etc must be updated with the current password so your system does not fail to start these services.

I hope this information is helpful.

Please let me know.

Hi,

Thanks for help again, but i have next question. I have information about users in dev_w0:

C ExecuteAndFlush return code: 0x80040e14 Stmt: [if user_name() != 'xxx' setuser 'xxx']

C sloledb.cpp [ExecuteAndFlush,line 5850]: Error/Message: (err 4604, sev 0), There is no such user or group 'xxx'

Maybe user must be - "xxxadm" - instead of - "xxx", and there is a problem ?

All services (SAP & MS SQL) working on the local account - "xxxadm", but server working in the domain.

T.

Hi,

Just dont use your domain users to start sap, use the <sid>adm to start the database and the sap system it would do.

Vamshi.
