Is there any IBM 64-Bit Java 1.4.2-12 available for 64-Bit LINUX on AMD64/EMT? If yes, where can I get that? If not, what is the alternative?

Thanks.

Hello: I have the same problem.

I have created the java users manually with the appropiate roles but when I retry the installation it still displays the same error. Could you help me?

Hi all

We have solve our issue by creating those users manualy and give appropriate role described in the installation guide.

The problem was not about the JDK version )

Please disregard all my questions pertaining to this issue because at this phase all either heard or read -- nothing that I encountered because I am not in that job function as of yet -- all theoretical. When I have practical situation, I will come back to you for help. Thanks.

Please note that I am looing for IBM 64-Bit Java 1.4.2-12,

not 1.4.2-09 or 1.4.2-10. This version number is very important.

Is there any alternative if IBM doesn't have this specific version?

Thanks.

Hello,

why do you need the "IBM 64-Bit Java 1.4.2-12".

These versions that are listed on the ibm website are "the supported IBM JDKs" by SAP.

Why using another version?

Here is the honest answer. I don't have practical experience in installing SAP NetWeaver 2004s/7.0 SR2 on Linux x86_64 (e.g, RHEL ES 4.6) but most likely I will be going in that job direction pretty soon. At this phase, I am reading many things & trying to understand the process in advance. What I read/heard is, for SAP NetWeaver 2004s/7.0 SR2 on Linux x86_64, IBM Java 1.4.2-12 is a must (not even 1.4.2-10) otherwise during installation in some step (possibly 32 or 33 -- not sure about exact step) installation will be stopped with the error "FCO-00011: CreateJSF was executed with status error" and/or "CJS-30051: The java class is not found: com.sap.engine.offline.offlinetoolstart" -- something like these. These problem won't go away by manually extracting J2EEINSTALL.SAR. So, that's why I am trying to find whether there is any IBM Java 1.4.2-12 for Linux x86_64. May be somebody who has experience on this specific hardware/software can say whether I read/heard right or wrong. Thanks to you and everybody.

Hello,

if i understand you right.. you don't have this error ? You only read somewhere about the error?

If the i missunderstand you.. please post the corresponding lines out of install_dev.log and we can take a look at your specific error.

All what i can say - take a look at sapnote #861215. This note describes the supported java versions for Linux on AMD64/EM64T - nothing more and nothing less.

=> "J2RE 1.4.2 IBM build j9xa64142-20080130 (SR10)"

So SR10 of the IBM JDK is recommended ("supported") at the moment.

Yes I got that -- thanks for explaining. Here is what I heard from my buddy. If the error is "The java class is not found: com.sap.engine.offline.OfflineToolStart" during "Install java engine" step -- what can be the cause? Assume that 64-Bit IBMJava2-AMD64-142-JRE-1.4.2-10.0, IBMJava2-AMD64-142-SDK-1.4.2-10.0 and IBMJava2-JAVACOMM-AMD64--1.4.2-10.0 have been installed.

Thanks.

Hello Anjan,

refer to sapnote #1008311

You can download the "IBMJava2-AMD64-142-SDK-1.4.2-9.0" for Linux on 64-bit AMD/Opteron from:

https://www14.software.ibm.com/webapp/iwm/web/preLogin.do?lang=en_US&source=swg-ibmjavaisv

I downloaded the .Z file but how can I install that? Thanks.

Also, is it for LINUX or SUN Solaris? I am so confused! Thanks.

To extract tar.Z files on Unix systems, do:

zcat file.tar.Z | tar xvf -

As far as I understood -- this is for Sun Solaris -- packages are not added with "pkgadd" in Red Hat Linux (or may be any variation of Linux). I am looking the package for 64-Bit Linux. Thanks.
