HI Biswajit,

Yes you can attach the DIR to a Material Master, PO & PR.

For that go to the object link in DIR you want to attach and enter the Material #, PO# &PR# respectively.

1) Then go to the MM03 for Material Master Display and navigate through the folllowing steps to find the DIR,

- Additional Data/Document Data.

2)For PO: Go to ME23, select the item and then

- Go to/ Linked Objects

3) For PR: Go to ME53, select the item and then

- Item/MoreFunctions/Documents

Please Award points.

Thanks,

Paddy

Dear Paddy,

Tahnks for ur reply.

My question is that"" If I maintain it in Material Master will it come automatically in PR/RFQ/PO ??

OR I have to attach it manually every where??

Hi Biswajit,

Once you have attached the documents(DIR)/drawing in Material master or material in additional data, and calling that material in PR/RFQ/PO, then that drawing(DIR) will also come there automatically. No need to attach it manually everywhere.

Thank you

Hi Nitin,

Do any settings have to be maintained for this (automatically attaching a document/DIR to a PO if the associated material is added to a line item) or is this standard?

In our system, currently, the document/DIR is NOT being automatically attached.

Is there some note that needs to be implemented?

Look forward to your response.

Thanks & Regards,

Sana.

Hi Sana,

as I understood your question right, there are no further customizing settings needed, because this means to be the standard system behavior.

Christoph

Hi Christoph,

If this is standard SAP - that the material document info record links get pulled into the purchase order - then it is not currently happening in our SAP system.

What should I do to ensure that this functionality is activated?

Is an SAP note required?

Look forward to your response.

Thanks & Regards,

Sana.

Hi Gabula,

Have you maintained the object link between DIR and Purchase order.

Go to DC10, define the object link for particular document type and maintain the screen 0248 ,object EKPO

Note 896655 -

if this link is maintained then,I dont think there will be any problem.

Note 896655 - Limitations of Object Links in Document Management System.

Note 498273 - Object link: Creation via ME21N.

Hi Nitin,

Thanks for your response...

I checked DC10 - the EKPO-0248 entry has been maintained for the document types.

I checked the note 498273 on performance, what I found after running ME21N with breakpoints at the following 2 function modules:

CV140_DVS_LINK_DIRECT

DOCUMENT_ASSIGNMENT_DIRECT

is that these are not being called during the PO creation.

Is any other setup required?

Look forward to your response!

Sana.

Hi Gabula,

you can award points by clicking one of the radio buttons on the left side of the last reply posting. Normally you will see three possible radio buttons like

- Solved problem (10)

- Very helpful answer (6)

- Helpful answer (2)

If you choose any of these entries the poster will get the points mentioned in the brackets.

Hi Nitin,

If you prefer, I can start another thread to continue this conversation.

I have checked the settings in DC10 and they have been maintained for EKPO & MARA.

However, the document linked to the material is not being copied into the purchase order.

I also found a link explaining automatic generation of document link for production orders:

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_46b/helpdata/en/15/6d9da4083f11d3b6b30000e8359890/frameset.htm

But have been unable to trace a similar resource for purchase orders.

Look forward to your inputs!

Thanks & Regards,

Sana.

Hi Sana,

I regret to inform you that this is not working in the standard object link behavior. The creation of object links is only possible in the EDIT transaction (e.g. ME52N and ME22N) but not within the CREATE transactions. According to our development this is due to the technical requirement that the data has to be created first on the database and then the link could be created.

I'm sorry that I cannot send you another reply on this issue.

Hi Christoph,

It is pity that standard SAP does not support the automatic copy of the material-document links into purchase orders as it seems to be a rather reasonable end-user request.

Is there any customer-exit/BADI/SAP note that we can implement to enable this?

I could raise an OSS message if necessary.

Thank you very much for following up on this Christoph.

Best Regards,

Sana.

Hi Sana,

of course you can raise an OSS message under component MM-PUR but as far as I know this is the current standard behavior. But maybe they know some BADI or exit to achieve this functionality by a modification.

Or you can also search the MM forum under Maybe there is already some similar question raised.

Best regards,

Christoph
