API to copy and release jobs

Apologies if this is in the wrong place.

I'm wondering if it is possible to connect to SAP via an API and provide as paramaters a list of jobs which can the automatically be copied and released up for a set time (something we do from SM37) currently.

Something similar to: PHP reads an excel spreadsheet of list of jobs and passes to SAP to be copied.

If it is possible, could someone provide a very simple explanation; I'm not very SAP savy but have the programming knowledge in various languages to complete this.

yes this is the wrong place. Using AIF for a task like this would be possible but maybe too much overhead for your usecase.

First you need to be familiar with Sap Structures and create one that can hold all data that you want to process

You can look into SAP Function Modules and create one that handles the scheduling of the jobs you want to create. You should use your structure as an importing parameter in that module.

Then you should consider looking into enterprise services and create one that provides access to your function module from outside (Webservice)

Then you should look into the soa manager to configure the enterprise service and get the wsdl required to call the service.

Assuming that you handled all the firewall and connectivity issues you could then write a program in .net, php, java or whatever that calls the service using the wsdl provided in the previous step.

    Kind Regards
