Dear Experts,
I try to do the following step by step solution (How to identify duplicate master data records using the MDM Import Manager) but I have no idea how and where to create the Matching Rules.
Thanks.
Identifying duplicate records using Import Manager:
Once you have done the field and value mappings in Import manager go to Matching tab and select one or combination of fields/unique keys on which u wish to check for duplicate records.Based upon the selection MDM proposes how many records are probable matches and Import actions against each of the records to be imported.
Say for Ex- If we select MATNR as unique filed for matching in Import manager all materials with same MATNR(assuming the data source is R/3) will be considered matches and import action will be SKIP(this can be manually overriden)
Matching rules and strategies are required in Data Manager and is different from Matching feature in Import manager.
hope it helps.
regards-
Ravi

Hi User NL,
With SP04 and onwards you can use MDM Import manager to find duplicates.
For doing this you do not need to create any rules or stragegies as is the case in MDM Data manger.
In Import manager it is the import action and the correct selection of matching record which helps determine duplicates.
In MDM Import manager you need to select a matching field under the match records tab.
If you select the unique primary key as the matching field then if you have any duplicate records with the same primary key it will come under a different import action as skip or update or replace.
If you select more than one matching field then based on that combination if the same combination exsist in Data manger then again the records wont be created.
Note:But this way of finding duplicates is not fool prrof as it will identify the record as a duplicate only if the entire contents is same to same if ther is a minor differnce evn then it will consider it as a new rec for this Rules and transformations are used in MDM data manger.
Hope it helped
Thanks & Regards
Simona

Hi,
The functionality of How-to guide is being discussed here was for SP03. We were using it and later upgraded to new functionality.
The Matching and merging functionality was changed completely from SP04.
Hope this helps,
