How to setup and use a test database for c# SAPbobsCOM development and debugging?

I am writing a c# application that utilizes the SAPbobsCOM dll library. I will be retrieving price lists, updating them, registering sales orders etc from the dot.Net application. Currently, there is an active production / real SAP B1 database on the server. I do not want to use it for testing. My question, how to create and use a separate database for development? Do I need additional license for running additional database? I am using SAP B1 9.1 & MSSQL server 2008.

As I am writing this I got the idea of replicating the current database under another name and connect to it from my dot.Net application. Is that reasonable?

Just copy the database and restore with another name (Standard SQL process), you can use it as a test.
