How does SWPM determine instance information?

Hello,

While installing diagnostics agents on a system, sapinst recognizes that we have duplicates of our instances. Where does SWPM/sapinst gather this information from?

I checked sapservices but this file was ok, and no obvious issues with the profiles.

There is only one instance running and this is fine. This is not causing us any issues at the present, but I would like to correct it and cleanup whatever is causing sapinst to detect this error.

Hello,

I would check following:

a) sapinst_dev.log - look for "Found these instances" and see how many instances are found

b) execute sapcontrol -nr <instance number> -function GetSystemInstanceList and check the output
