Performance issue in Design studio 1.6 SP5

HI All,

I am developing a design studio application. It has four tabs. again in each tab there are two tabs.

there are 14 queries used in total in the dashboard.

Currently facing Performance issue with the dashboard in two ways.

1) while executing the dashboard.

2) while making any changes to the dashboard in the design studio client.Even the Edit initial view takes for query takes 2-5 minutes or more.

To reduce the execution time of the dashboard. i tried to load the queries needed in first tab onstartup and loading the remaining in background. But with this approach dashboard open fast on start up. But when switching between the tabs, it takes really long 2-5 minutes.

even changing the filters also takes long time.

I searched through the forum, everywhere its mentioned to load queries in background. but its not helping in my case

Please provide some suggestions.

Can you please consider below questions.

1.Where is your design studio client tool is placed?..Are you acessing via citrix or vpn or directly in network..Atlease from my experience launching design studio and working in citrix enviromnent, specially writing java script in the editor is time consuming...If you have a possibility connect BO design studio using vpn from your local host.

2.Are you using any prompts?...How much volume of data you are showing up during start up?

3.Any one from your team facing this issue? are doing correct to load the data source in the back ground for the screens which you do not want in the start up but i request you to check how your bex queries are defined?..are you using too many dimensions in the rows?..if yes then this will hinder your edit intial view performance and i recommend to have your data sources to display at aggregated level as much possible, so that during run time in your start up you can move your dimensions in to rows based on your requirement.

5.Are you using any prompts in you report?

Sounds like the queries need tuning. Avoid fetching high volume of data. Push all calculations to back end. Allocate sufficient memory to the APS for Design Studio.
