Moving DMR setting from “ At Ud “ to “At Lot Creation

Hi

The business has been using DMR with the radio button “ At Ud “

Meaning that the Quality Level only changes once the UD has been done , after a number of years they have realised that as their UDs can take some time and they have have had many deliveries they want to change this radio button in the DMR to “ At Lot Creation “

However I have tried to test this movement from one radio button to the other with already a whole load of legacy Inspection lots outstanding without UDs and basically it doesn’t seem to be moving the QL consistently on Lot Creation even though this is now the new setting . It still seems to behave in the same way as “ At Ud”

Sometimes it seems to work ok and other times it doesn’t and I can’t find a pattern as to why it’s behaving erratically

Does anyone have any experience of changing this setting part way through ?

I've had decent luck in the past using this report to get an understanding of what's influencing the stage changes:

https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/844979

Looking it over again, it might not be useful for the analysis of DMR at the time of UD, but might be worthwhile importing that into your QA environment to play around with...

Hi Craig

Thanks for your response . You seem to be a very regular responder . Do you work for SAP?

So yes I've tried testing with IL without UDs done yet and when all UDs are done , also when in the middle of a stage change , i.e. a value in the " Insp since last change " box , all to no avail . I have also tried deleting the QL but this doesn't even seem to trigger the right behaviour

I am unclear as to what you are trying to tell me in your response . You mention DMR at lot level or characteristic level which is set at the header of the Task List , just for clarity it's not this setting that I am talking about , it's the setting in the DMR master data . For information only the business has got lot level in the task list

I need further explanation on the point you are making

Thanks a lot

Helen

Have you checked to see how the behavior is when you change this setting with and without open inspection lots? You might find the cause there.

The values for DMR are copied into the QALS table at the time of creation for DMR at the lot level.

The values for DMR are copied into the QAMV table at the time of creation for DMR at the characteristic level.

So when you change over, you can still have lots that will process at the time of UD.

In addition, if you use "Lot creation", keep in mind that at time of UD, I believe another check is done. So if a lot is created and the lot advances to a skip, and then the previously created lot now fails, I believe you'll find the quality level will be checked and updated and the failure (in most DMR designs), results in a reset to the initial stage. A UD that passes, obviously results in no change since the pass route was already taken.

The rule should be to not change the DMR setting unless all impacted lots are totally completed and the UD's are all done.
