Maintaining a logical system is mandatory. For uniqueness

If you are not defining it will reflect in many place like CUA, ALE andconnecting to another system via portal. and others

So my suggestions is that define logical system before doing any administrator work.

First define it in Bd54 or sale

then assign it in SCC4.

There are three types of client copy.

1. Local Client Copy

2. Remote Client Copy

3. Client Export

In local client copy, no logical system is required.Use scc3

In remote, logical system name is required. Its an 8/9 letter name.Use scc9. That should be given while setting a new client in scc4

In client export, this is not specified as we export the data from the source client.ie We give the target in the source system. We are not giving the souce client details from the target system.Use scc8
