BAPI/ FM to change the settlement rule for a production order

Dear experts,

We are developing a Z program to create production orders with BAPI - BAPI_PRODORD_CREATE. We will be using the z program to create the production orders with reference to WBS elements, so the settlement rule should be with WBS elements. But the BAPI_PRODORD_CREATE is creating the order with settlement rule as Material. For the order type i am using has the settlement profile with both Material and WBS elements as options for settlement rule. As this order type is existing one and so we cannot create a new order type or change the settlement rule only for WBS elements.

Please let me know if there is any way to change the settlement rule created from Material level to WBS elements. I had checked the options with FM but nothing is working.

As an alternate proposal can we create a BDC for my program with respect to t-code CO10, so that the settlement rule will be with WBS element? Is BDC is a safe option?
