Mukta, all the questions look to be basic level questions in DP. They can be easily addressed in a training session, and Help.sap.com, and also the wiki page in the forum on the top of this page. I am sure answering all the questions below, will lead you to further questions and I dont think training questions are addressed to your satisfaction in this forum. If you can ask your organization to have a short DP (2 day) training session from SAP endorsed training vendors, it will do a world of good to your DP team. The moderator of this forum can correct me if this is wrong.

I guess no question is a trivial one, every question has its own importance. It would be great if people start answering questions rather than advising. I am not sure about the answers else i would have answered. I am writing this because people might stop reply for this thread after reading Mr. Srinivas's post. No hard feelings buddy.

Thanks,

The Invincible

Hi Mukta / The Invincible,

I started genuinely going through the threads by The Invincible today morning and then came across this thread. Srinivas and Harish has already given some pointers in the threads. Interestingly the questions in this thread by Mukta Singh are the same (only split in to 3 or 4) as in threads by The Invincible. I guess both of you are the same person. Frankly I don't see a reason for this.

As pointed you by both Srinivas and Harish (incidentally both a good friends of mine not just because of SDN but I know them personally) we also learn from the threads in this forum.

Many a times answers can sound as an "advice" but that comes because of the "painful" experience the user has gone through. Believe me 6 years back when I started off in APO (along with Harish) help.sap.com was the only thing available and it was an ocean tough to trawl through. At least in the past couple of years thanks to SDN first this forum appreared and then started off the [Wiki|https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/SCM] and a few blogs. What saddens me is that new users instead of using these resources just start shooting off questions on the forum many of which will yield reasonable answers by doing a simple search (extend the date range to past year etc.)

BTW there were a couple of threads put in by Mukta to which Anjali had diligently replied but these were neither closed or awarded points. I am not saying users in this forum reply only because of points (no point in dragging this to any point related discussion), but more when its a question -

a) something that either they know a solution having coming across previously or

b) something they have not come across but challenging enough to seek out a solution

For the basic questions it is better to use the [APO|https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/SCM/APO] Wiki (see the third sticky thread) which has links to other relevant things (good SAP consulting Notes, articles, books, help.sap.com - Building Block Guides).

Frankly if you are starting off in DP it is better to go through the Building Block Guide and help.sap.com and if possible pick up a good book like Thomas Dickersbach's "Supply Chain Management with APO: Structures, Modelling Approaches and Implementation"

which is listed in the Bibliography page in Wiki.

Sorry for the long reply and "advice" if you may call it but I could not stop from putting it in.

Best regards,

Somnath

Somnath,

We do respect your feelings and that was the reason why we mentioned " No Hard feelings Buddy". This is because Mukta is a very good friend of mine and she is struggling hard and i am a beginner too. We do have the book which you have prescribed and also we did go through the Building Block for DP. It is only after that she came across all these doubts. She was just asking for some help from Guru's like you. Thats fine if you guys don't want to answer directly. I knew this would happen because of the long list of questions in one single post. That is the reason why i did post the same questions in bits. Sorry buddy even i couldn't stop myself from replying. I still stick to the statement, "No Hard Feelings Buddy".

Cheers,

THE INVINCIBLE
