Hello Experts,

I am facing issue with change request number, System generates random change request number like 150, 172, 148, 210,.

How make it linear like 150, 151, 152 like that ?

Regards,

Varun

Hi Varun,

As kavita said, CR number loss will occur mostly if user dont save the CR while creation. As per SAP setting in snro for number range object USMD_CREQ , every next 10 change request number got cached in main memory so in case of main memory loss, server will pick up next 10 numbers. Mostly it is sequence, check buffering setting in snro and see if anyone changed it . You can have an option to set no buffering to avoid any loss of numbers but it will not help you from avoiding number loss if user didnt save the CR. Finally, You cant really have sequentional number without losing crequest number other than coding a bit.

Thanks

Hello Varun,

Do you mean to say that in your system the number is generating ascending & descending randomly(1272, 1263, 1252 - please check creation time in the table USMD120C to be sure of this.

Ideally even if you lose a number It would be generated in increasing order-120, 135, 140, 167- etc

If it is randomly generating increasing & decreasing then it is a real issue.Unfortunately I cannot think of a reason or cause for this as of now.

Thanks,

Kavita

This is normal & is nothing to worry.

It can be due to 2 reasons.

  1. If an end user just opens a CR and does not save also the number is consumed. This is standard SAP behavior you teste this in any lower environment too .
  2. There is an internal buffer provided in SAP for the number range ,so some of the CRs will be skipped as it is. This is also Standard SAP behavior

In your system the number would not be generated ascending & descending randomly.

It would be generated in increasing order-

120, 135, 140, 167- etc
