Hi,

My client has a problem with planned depreciation. There is an amount of planned depreciation that exists in period 12/2016 (see below image) and they can not post this amount in period 12/2016 because fiscal year 2016 was closed and audited. They want to transfer this planned depreciation to current period of year 2017 to clear existing planned depreciation of 2016 and then post it in 2017. How to do that and what are the steps?

Please advise me, thanks in advance.

Regards,

Tam

Hi Tam,

The simple best way to resolve your issue is to post the same amount via unplanned depreciation ABAA in current period of the year with remark of the posting.

You can ignore the planned deprecation amount in prior year since it is audited and no FI posting required.

Thanks.

Dear KK Lam,

Thanks for your answer.

I used to consider posting an unplanned depreciation in current period but this issue hasn’t been solved. Because I can’t post an unplanned depreciation in 12/2016 to clear existing planned depreciation of 2016 and if there’s an existing planned amount, I can’t close 2016 by AJAB (this step hasn’t been completed in 2016).

Which way I don’t post unplanned depreciation to adjust in 12/2016, I can clear this existing planned depreciation to close 2016 by AJAB then I will post this amount in current period?

Regards,

Tam

Hi Tam,

Did you find out the root caused of the unposted planned cost in period 12, 2016? Is it cause by useful life year change or depreciation key change?

If it is caused by the root cause above, you may try to change back to original data and then run AFAR.

Thanks
