ranking variable not functioning properly when used with a prompt

Hello all,

I'm in new to Business Objects. And I am building a report for a user who wants to look at the last Provider who attended a patient right before the patient was discharged. I created a ranking variable where rank 1 was given to the last attending date & time. Below is the screen shot of the results. Below screenshot 1 does not include Provider prompt. Therefore ranking is working perfectly and lets me filter out everything except rank 1. However the moment I filter on certain provider (in this case I look at the provider who provided services on the yellow highlighted date), all the patients that provider looked at irrespective of the ranking shows up. My question is can I do something at the WebI level to make sure my ranking doesn't change and only patients that show up for a provider selected in a prompt are ones where that provider was ranked. My second screen shot shows how the patient for whom the provider was ranked 4th shows up in that provider list and rank automatically changes to 1. Ranking formula I'm using is:

=Rank([End Date & Time];Top;([Patient Name]))

what is your rank variable formula?

have you tried with adding Provider name in the rank formula as reset dimension?
