hi friends

i am being sent to client place to study processes for impementation, its a iron casting industry

can any body please help me about the basics which are needed to be followed at the client place

since this is my first implementation.

Dear Suresh,

I think you are lucky to have this oppurtunity. I think you should make most out of it. In any business every thing is the same. But consutants should go to the specifics.Interaction with the end users gives you indepth knowledge. These endusers are very experianced and they are the only ones who pass on the functional knowledge to us. The business process owners do not know any thing. They in turn go these fellows. Thus honest answer is go and talk to these guys in there local knowledge and be kind to them.They will tell inside story of the business.

One more thing which is for configuration go with Questions and answers database and notedown the nessary things.Enjoy consultanting.

Important Notes:

1) Get the basic knowledge about the industry from help.sap.com

2) visit the website http://sap-img.com/sap-sd.htm. It will give you the overview of SAP SD Module.

3) Integrate the knowledge learnt in point 1 and 2

These steps will help you during client interaction.

hi,

as an SD consultant, when you interact with the users try to stream line what questions you put to the best possible information so that you can again map that process into SAP. Its also important for you to understand a business process totally with respect to the other business fucntins also like finanace, procurement, production etc.

Its very imp again to think from the clients point of view when you try propose a solution, since for the client it doesnt matter how you do, but you need fill his requirements properly. A client would want a consultant who has the required understanding skills, SAP knowledge so that he can be sure of you.

Since its a iron industry make search in help.sap.com building blocks to understand what could be the possible scenarios like. Be a good team player among your other modules. am sure you will get strained enough and encounter situations where you dont get a way out... but very soon you will get through again with the required hard work... and also we are all here to share our bit to help you. All the best.
