It has been 4 years since SAPUI5 is being used as front-end MVC framework for SAP Fiori apps. Is SAP is going to continue with SAPUI5 lets say for next 10 years, with keeping in mind the fact that UI technologies changes rapidly outside the SAP world.

Hi Ashish,

That's a good question! I wish I had the answer to it. But as you've said - software is a very dynamic beast and UI frameworks are very opinionated. Advocates for each language/framework are passionate and can be found everywhere.

With that said, there is no easy answer to your question. What I can say from being an SAP employee for quite a while now is that adoption of the newest technology in not always a must or a the primary worries. So SAP is very cautious about adopting/changing frameworks. Ideally changes or new UI technologies need to be disruptive about the innovation they provide - not about throwing the investment done by customers/partners and the whole ecosystem.

If changes come in the future, they will surely be communicated in advance during SAP events like FKOM and SAP TechED. I believe that when they come, it will either not be disruptive to developers or at least there will be plenty of time to start using them.

Regards,
Ivan
