Values for CVCs not filled

Hi,

I have a basic question. If I have 5 characteristics in my CVC that I am generating from a cube and if for a record, if two of the values not filled, does the system create a CVC for that?

Here is an example of data in the cube:

Ch1Ch2Ch3Ch4Ch5

AB-CD-EF-GH-IJ

AB-___-LM-___-OP

For the second records, I don't have any values for the characteristics Ch2 and Ch4. When I am generating CVCs from this cube does the system pickup both the combinations as above or does it drop the second one as the values for two of the characteristics are not filled in?

In our system, it is dropping the second one. I want to make sure whether this is standard behavior or a bug that we need to apply any notes for.

In our business case, it is possible to have the second record where the values are not filled in. Our system is not pickingup the second one when we are generating CVCs. In my cube, If I have a qty.5 for the first combination and 3 for the next, then for ch1, it is total qty. 8 units. But as the system is dropping the second one, I am only seeing 5 units for the character ch1 in the planning book, which is wrong. How can I handle this situation?

Thanks.

If you create a blank entry with description like a "#" in the master data of characteristic, it is possible to load the data at a blank level of characteristic. If you are not comfortable with a blank, you should be able to create a dummy value that lops up all blanks in the characteristic value.

Hope this helps.

Thank you very much. Sorry about the late reply. Is it standard SAP behavior not to pickup the CVCs if the values of some of the characteristics are not filled in?
