Can I create a new procurement type?

Former Member

We are converting make parts to buy, but engineers want to keep the bills of material for reference.

They would like a new procurement type to indicate that the material, in the manufacturing plant, is for refence only. (it could be a spare part in service plant) Because MPR Procurement type is in so many reports, it is a high visibility field, so they are asking for another code.

i do not see a place to create a procurment type. Is it possible? If so how do i do that?

thank you

althea

SPRO->Materials Management->Consumption-Based Planning->Master Data->Define Special Procurement Types

special procurement will probably be the first alternative if they can't have procurement type

Hi Althea,

There are 3 procurement type Inhouse, External & both.

What if you maintain the procurement field blank i.e remove the procurement type maintained in the material master.

This will not reflect in the report.

Please check.

thank you.

Hi,

You can block the material by using the option in the X-plant material status in the material master. If need you can create your own status.

Procurement type cannot be created.

thank you for your response.

I gave this as an option - but Visibility of it in reporting, without re-writing reports, is a high priority for them - hence the procurement type, it is i all reports they use.

If the answer to: Can I create a new procurement type? is NO, then they will start looking at options like status and special procurement.
