Search for "*" as a literal character in SAP BW (display data)

Hello,

I am displaying data from SAP BW (transaction code RSA1) and at the selection screen of the InfoProvider I want to check if a characteristic includes the character "*" in the string values. Can you please inform me what is the escape character for special characters? How can I search if the asterisk in included in a text without it being used as a wildcard?

Thank you for your replies. I'm using BW (not BW on HANA). I have tried '#' as the escape symbol ('*#**') but the results return everything that includes '#' instead of '*'.

are you in BW on HANA or BW?

if it is BW on HANA then you can write SQL

Hi Mari,

'#' is the escape character. Searching for '*#**' will return all the values containing the character '*'
