WM/PP staging - multiple transfer requirements for one production order

Hi all

My client has an issue that we need to solve...

We set up standard WM/PP staging proccess and it is working fine. We also implemented user exit MWMPP001, which transfers planned time from production order to TR. TRs are automatically created at time of production order release. Everything fine until here.

Now, because they have capacity limitations in PSA, they can't transfer whole requested quantity of components to PSA at once. They would like to have multiple TRs created for one production order. Maximum quantity of each component in PSA would be written in material master in MLGT-LPMAX (maximum storage bin quantity).

So, here is the scenario:

- production order requires 1000 PC of component A

- PSA can only contain 200 PC of component A at once

- component A will have to be transported to PSA five times, 200 PC each time

- result should be automatic creation of five TRs, each one for 200 PC at the time of production order release.

- the requirement is, that the system creates five TRs...creation of five TOs for one TR is not an option

Any ideas?

Regards

Gligorij

Your TR is directly related to your PP requirement. If you want multiple TRs, you will have to delete (or not create) the TRs and instead do the TR creation manually using LB01 - or write a program to do it for you. If you write a program, you can check the current levels in the PSA and then create a new TR.

What I fail to understand is why you have a seemingly artificial restriction on keeping one TR and issuing multiple TOs. That is how the system is designed... you don't have to go back to the IM postings to see how much has been requested - that is what the TR is for.

Manual creation of TRs is also not an option. Customer wants to automize as much as possible. So, we are coming to a solution, that I really didn't want that is writing a program.

Customer wants multiple TRs because of work organization in warehouse. If warehouse clerk only gets information that he has to move 1000 kg of material to PSA, that is not enough for him, because he can not move whole 1000 kg at once. He can create a TO and only move part of those 1000 kg, but then we come to their another wish...they also need to know, how much work warehouse clerks will have in following, let's say 8 hours so they can organize themselves. They will not get this information from one TR only, but they can get pretty close with multiple TRs with different planned times.

If you have multiple TOs you can at the very least using the RF monitor and the use Priority to fake a schedule. Or you can set up picking waves and use the rough workload estimation tools. Your description is a perfect example of trying to use SAP provided tools first. The TR gives you the overall picture (ie - 1000 kg total) and the TOs are split up and you can use existing SAP ways of handling things.

Another thought - if you set up the PSA as a fixed bin storage type you could use the replenishment tools like LP21 that SAP provides. Again here you need the full TR already created.
