changing Views

Hi,

Have couple of questions

i have couple of views on a query they are being used in web templates, i need to change the view can someone let me know how to find an existing view and change it,

and also one of my requirement is that the users want to see only 5 locations(info Object) out off all the available location but they also want to be able to pick anyone on the 5 while query run time. In other words they want to restrict the query by hard coding the query with 5 values and also in the variable selection they want to pick any combination of the 5. how can this be done?

so i decided to filter the query and use the variable in the View how can this be done can someone tell me the procedure i dont have much knowledge on views, or is there a work around.

Thanks

Open your analyzer and click on the Folder button in the toolbar and select Views.

Give the technical name it will display the existing view.

You can use the variable in a view only if it is existing in your query.

    • try the following things to fix your issue

      1. After you execute the query in analyzer, from the filter delete all the filters before saving it as a view.

      2. In Template if you are having both query and view as a dataprovider then in the properties of the table and chart select the option List of Affected Data Provider and tick both the checkboxes.

      3. In Template if you are having both query and view then in the HTML code of the webtemplate make sure that the code for the query is before the code for the view. If it is not like that then you can cut the code for the query and paste it on top of the view code.

    Kim,

You cnat have two variable types - i.e some fixed values and a variable value on the same characteristic.

Rather than view, can you insert the query into 5 sheets in a workbook. Select a different plant per sheet and on your query properties make sure on the Interaction tab Return to Global Definition is turned off. Save that workbook.
