Question Regarding Document Splitting

Scenario 1: I understand that multiple line items are created from document splitting based on how many profit centres there are:

3 line items at a cost of $10,000 and input tax of $1,000

2 profit centres (80%/20%) becomes 6 line items

Resulting in cost allocation of: $8,000 and $2,000, as well as tax allocation of $800 and $200

However, what confuses me is: does this affect how many documents are created?

Furthermore, how would this change if we had multiple segments within each of the profit centres?

Scenario 2: what would be the resulting line items, and how many documents are created?

3 line items at a cost of $10,000 and input tax of $1,000

2 profit centers (80%/20%) and 2 segments per PC

If possible, please provide an example with your solution.
