Hello Everyone,
I have a requirement for milestone billing in SD, without the use of WBS in PS.
The milestone is so that the customer could be billed at a few stages e.g. down payment, 50% completion, 75% completion and final payment. The SO item is a make-to-order item.
I am new to billing plan. Per my reading,
1. The system propose the billing plan based on milestone defined in project network.
2. Billing block for the plan would be released after completion of each milestone.
My inquiries:
1. Is it Ok to propose using milestone billing without integration with PS?
2. How could the billing block be release, without having WBS milestone as indicator?
Your feedback is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Yati
Haryati, milestone billing is not related "only" with PS. You can use milestone billing plan with SD standalone.
a. Check the note 830097 - FAQ: Milestone billing plans . This note is not so new but cover the mainly questions about this theme.
b. The configuration sequence should follow this transactions below.
1. Maintain milestone billing - OVBO.
2. Maintain date category for Billing Plan - OVBJ.
3. Maintain date proposal for Billing Plan Type - OVBM.
4. Assign Billing Plan to Sales Documents Type - OVBP.
5. Assign Billing Plan to Item Categories - OVBR.
6. Rules for determine the date - OVBS.
c. Based on your business requirement, and if you are using S/4 1610+, check if Sap Condition Contract Management (transaction WCOCO) could be usefull. The mainly objective for this feature is quite different than milestone billing, but somethimes and depending your business requirement they could help and be very usefull.
d. Follow the Lakshmipathi suggestion; try to execute the standard scenarios with item category TAO in order to check the system behaviour.
Best, FM
