What is the difference between fault messages and alerts ?
In synchronous mode fault message option is there, here we give some message type(this msg will come when an error occur at response), instead of that shall we put an alert ?
Where we can use alerts and fault messages ?
Fault messages are typically used in the inbound receiver proxy. u can view these messages in the SXMB_MONI of the target system e.g. ECC or CRM system. u can mark these messages with errors which will be reflected in the red mark in receiver system. Fault messages can be monitored by production support person..
Alerts are used as the notification mechanism. it will notify the concern person either through raising alert in the inbox or sending an email.

Fault message is specific to receiver, ex: Xi make a call to Webservice and due to some reason WS is unable to process the request then it will send a false respone to XI.
But alerts are used to notify about the administrator that something worng happend with the interface flow:)
