Staffing manager authorizations

Hello all,

We are using PPM 4.5, and I'd like to set the best authorizations for a staffing manager. By setting the users as a staffing manager for an Organizational Unit, the staffing view is OK. Then, when hitting the project / role, I get to cProjects view with the following error message: "You require authorization to display Project..."

By addind the ACO object DPO, read-only it solves the pb, but I dont' think this is the good way, as the user will have access to all projects with this read-only authorization.

So the question is: do you know how to grant automatically the staffing manager to the staffing process tab of a project without this ACO authorizations?

Thank you for yoour help.

Regards,

Matthias

Hi Matthias,

In this case, you would need to give the user project specific authorizations. i.e You need to give the user authorization at the project level.

Assuming that you have added the user as a Staffing Manager for a particular Organization, you can give the user additional authorization to access the project as follows:

Open the Project --> Go to Structure tab --> Authorizations

Add the user and give necessary authorizations.

This will grant him access only to a particular project and not all the projects in the system. Let me know if this helps.

We are still in trouble with this issue, no-one has an other idea ?

Actually, we don't understand the logic in the staffing management. It seems we have to do the work several times: set the staffing manager + set the authorizations + .... Why such a heavy flow ?

Thanks for your help.

Solved with an OSS Note (included in SP4).

You're right regarding the result, we already tested this way. But for us it's not a good solution, as you will have to add all the resource managers involved in the project, and the project manager as to add this manually, and to know who will be the staffing manager. And in case of change, the work has to be re-done.

I was more thinking about a kind of relashionship between the staffing manager of an Org Unit, and all the requests coming from a specific project. Something more dynamic...
