What Happens to bookmarks of DS 1.x when we migrate to Lumira 2.0?

Hi,

Currently, we are in version DS 1.6 and providing users with Fragmented Bookmarks.

From the notes, we learnt that with Lumira 2.0 there is a separate Bookmark component so the legacy code will have to be updated.

But even after updating to Lumira 2.0 code will the old bookmarks still remain valid?

Regards,

Kiran Shenvi

I tried that. The code doesn't give you errors, but cannot save bookmarks. You need to update bookmark codes to the new one. It is not that hard.

Hi Zahid,

Were existing bookmarks preserved after you upgraded?

The bookmarks in the system is preserved. They are not gone, but they might not be usable. The reason I am saying this is that after we upgraded our sandbox, we had some dashboards using bookmarks. I was able to create bookmarks and save them. However when try to load the bookmark, it throws an error saying that the bookmark doesn't exist. When I check the CMC, I could see the bookmark there.

Thanks Zahid. And what happens when you try to load bookmarks that were created/saved BEFORE the upgrade?

Hi Zahid,

We have exactly the same problem, at the moment with Lumira 2.0 SP3.
Did you have news about this?

We have ca. 500 Report how hase the Bookmark function.

Generally Lumira Designer runtime is compatible with existing Design Studio apps. There are only very little exceptions. If a legacy app doesn't work as before, e.g. it can't read old bookmarks, I would recommend to file a bug and get it fixed.

Hi Reiner,

If I understand correctly, you are confirming that Design Studio legacy apps with bookmarks should continue to function as before under the Lumira Designer runtime for the case where such legacy apps are NOT technically upgraded to Lumira 2.0 documents. However, I think there is still some confusion around what happens when a legacy Design Studio app with existing bookmarks is upgraded/converted to a Lumira 2.0 document? In this scenario, will the Designer 1.x bookmarks that existed prior to the conversion to a 2.0 document still be valid?

Hi Mustafa,

Are you able to find a solution for the Bookmark issue? If yes, could you please share the solution.

Thanks in advance.
