Upgrade of ESS/MSS to SP13

Hi we are running on EP7.0 SP13, our portal/WAS is already working SP13 only the following components are on SP11 SAPPCUI_GP,

BP_ERP5ESS / BP_ERP5MSS,

SAP_ESS / SAP_MSS.

Apart from the above mentioned components we hav all the components are on SP13.

I want to bring all the above mentioned items too be on SP13.

1. Please help me in understanding why do i need to deploy BP_ERP5ESS & SAP_ESS both the components ...

what is the basic difference or dependency in them.

2. i found the SAP_ESS / SAP_MSS component on marketplace till SP18 (when i downloaded it in a folder and tried to import it from JSPM, it shows the folder as empty. )

3. i was not able to find BP_ERP5ESS / BP_ERP5MSS. Also heard from somebody that last SP available for the same is SP11. where can i find SP13 ? is it available??

Please help in understanding the same.

Hi Jack,

You are in the recommended level for ESS / MSS and EP.

EP 7.0 SP 13 and ESS/ MSS at SP11.

No change required.

Note: Check the central ERP Notes for compatibility before going ahead with the installation.

Hi,

I am still unclear on the following point:

The SAPESS11P_5-20000512.SCA is the latest patch available on marketpalce.

So getting SAPESS11P_5-20000512.SCA installed will get me both the components i.e. ( SAP_ESS & BP_ERP5ESS component) on my portal...

are both the components combined as a package on

SAPESS11P_5-20000512.SCA??

Hi Jack,

They are different, you can search for BP ERP05 ESS 1.0 or BP ERP05 ESS 1.2 suiting to your need.

Open

https://service.sap.com/swdc -> SAP Software Distribution Center -> Search for all Categories and put

"BP ERP05 ESS" as search criteria you will be able to see this list and you can pick one which is required for you.

Sorry but i am not sure how can you browse through them in Application Group hierarchy.

SAPESS11P_5-20000512.SCA will hold all WD Parts for ESS. There's another archive for the MSS WD components.

Actually you'll have to deploy the following packages (all can be found in the SMP mentioned above) all matching the same patchlevel:

SAPPCUI_GP, SAPESS, SAPMSS (for the WD parts) and under Portal Content BP ERP05 ESS and BP ERP05 MSS (for the roles and iviews)

Hi jack,

1) BP_ERP5ESS / BP_ERP5MSS is Portal Business package which consist of iview, pages and roles.. while SAP_ESS / SAP_MSS. is WebDynpro part of it. These iviews will direct to some WD application which are part of SAP_ESS / SAP_MSS. and they are deployed on server.

2) you have to simple go to

service.sap.com/downloadSupport patches and packagesEntry By application GroupSAP Application ComponentsSAP ERPSAP ERP 2004/2005--Entry By ComponentSAP XSS

pick the correct version and download. You get full package not incremental. Old ones will be overwritten when you deploy them. try to download them again if it failed first time.

3) Refer note 761266 for package compatibility.

pretty clear now only on thing which is still bothering is on the said path wat i can find is

SAPESS11P_5-20000512.SCA is the latest patch ...

1. This is only one component ....(no SAP_ESS & BP_ERP5ESS component) so getting SAPESS11P_5-20000512.SCA installed with get me both the components is it???

2. as already told we have our WAS/Portal on SP13 but ESS/MSS on SP11 cause this is the only latest patch avialable ... so will it work fine ?
