differnce b/w material group and mterial type

we can have different mobile like N72, N73,M440

all these are mobiles but they r finifshed product so there material type is finsihed prodct but all these are mobile so there material group is mobile

u can not create a materal without specifying the material type

material group is used from the reporting ^& analysis point of view and it plays a very vital role in that

class is used to representcharacterisitics of a material in sap

if u do not give it then there isnt any issue but in real time without this it is impossible to work without that

if u do not give valyuation class then system is unable to search out the G/L account to hit

Hi

1) Material Type is must for creating Material Master Record. You cant create material master without giving material type. It is must or you can say it is the starting point to create the material master. By giving the material type, system will automatically search for valuation class in accounting view. Because we assign the valuation class to material type.

2) Logically or Business point of view we have to enter the material group while creating material master. With the help of material group we can search out the material. well, no error message will come if you dont use material group. Its a good practice to use Material Group.

3) If you are using the functionallity of Batch Management then you have to maintaine the material class.

Rewards me if it helps you.

Thanks

Hi ,

1.without material type its impossible to create any material-code, so ur first one is ruled out.

2.If u don't give mat.group, no error given, but its bussiness requirement.

3.If u don't mention Material class, it's not possible to determine the valuation class.
