Availability of Oracle 12.2 for SAP

Hello Experts,

Can you help me to understand whether SAP supports Oracle 12.2?

I know oracle 12.1 -64 bit is supported as per PAM but 12.2 is nowhere mentioned in PAM.

I can see OPatch 12.2.0.1.8 available in download area and Snote#2422996 - Oracle: New OPatch Release OPatch 12.2.0.1.8 is also released as of Feb 2017. Surprised to see oracle 12.2 not mentioned in PAM though. Is there a SAP reference link available SAP for certified oracle versions except PAM?

Thanks for sharing this news! Surprisingly the end of support date for 12.2 is DEC 2019 while for 12.1 end of support (free of cost) is July 2019. So its just 5 months support extension as compared to 12.1.

Also as per snote #1174136 extended support is not offered for 12.2 while it is offered for 12.1. So we are confused if upgrading to 12.2 makes sense?

As of today, we are also not able to find upgrade guide for 12.2 at SAP support portal. Downloads dvds are available though.

If PAM doesn't show Oracle 12c R2 then it is not supported. According to the SAP on Oracle development update, it is planned to be supported by the end of 2017. If it doesn't happen by the end of 2017 I am quite confident it will be supported by Q1/2018.

For now OPatch 12.2.0.1.8 supports Oracle 12.1.0.2.0.

Also check the sap note, though Gents above have answered it already for you.
