BFC 10: Rejected control for Comments

Hi Experts,

Need your help with an issue we are facing related to controls comments on an account at partner level.

We have a requirement wherein users need to enter comments in a schedule if a specific PA (eg PA = A1) is selected & also enter comments in another column if there is a value entered on any partner selection i.e. the account is non-zero.

For the respective accounts we have enabled Comments in the chart of accounts as well as ticked the 'Apply to dimensional analysis' setting'. At package level, for the same account, we are able to enter comments in the 2 columns as required i.e. PA = A1 as well as PA = No Member level.

We also need blocking controls which force the users to enter a comment if PA = A1 is selected as well as comments in the other column if there's a value entered on any partner selection .

We have built the below blocking controls for this scenario

Factor: {AC = ABC123 ; FL = Y99}

Expression: IF (EXIST ({#PA}) ; EXIST_COMMENT ({#PA}))

This control for our 2nd requirement seems to work

However the below control for the PA = A1 requirement gets rejected in the validation report with Invalid Setting error?

Factor: {AC = ABC123 ; FL = Y99}

Expression: IF (EXIST ({PA = A1}) ; EXIST_COMMENT ({PA = A1}))

Any ideas on why this is happening & how we can create a control for this specific requirement?

    Hello Manas

    This depends on how the Dimensional Analysis is defined

    Here is an example, my control is the same as yours

    I defined the DA on Partner with a filter

    This leads to the error you are also seeing

    Changed the DA to use elementary values (which included the value that is being used in the control)

    Now, the control will be valid

    • Many thanks Marc for your prompt response.

      The message in the validation report (Invalid Settings) gives no clue that the issue might be in the dimensional analyses.

      As advised, I changed the dimensional analysis to include the required partner as an elementary value & the commentary controls are now cleared.
