Bursting reports Analysis for Office

Hello,

In BO Analysis for Excel, is there a function to burst reports? By bursting, I mean to distribute the report contents to various recipients, who can then each view a subset of the data (e.g. different spreadsheets).

My search returned standard functions in BusinessObjects, but I couldn't see anything specifically for AfO.

Your help would be appreciated.

The new publication feature looks interesting.

In our tests, we defined "Enterprise Recipients", who then received the report to their respective e-mail adresses.

We understand that for AO, the user-specific precalculation works with Analysis Authorizations (and not with explicit profile values, as e.g. for WebI and Crystal Reports). Is that correct, or is there a way to work with profile values for AO, too?

Thank You.

Hi Mattias Dieng,

We are also looking how to burst AFO workbooks like bursting webi report...different content for different recipients...are you able to achieve this ?

Thank You..

Hi Mattias - you can schedule your workbooks - see https://blogs.sap.com/2015/02/25/checklist-for-scheduling-of-analysis-for-office-workbooks/

Analysis Office 2.6, planned in a few weeks, has more scheduling features - see https://blogs.sap.com/2017/11/20/asug-webcast-whats-new-in-analysis-office-2.6-recap/

Hi Tommy,

We can see that from AFO 2.6 we can use it in publication...Do we have any real time examples on how this can be done with AFO worbooks...I am not sure if I use HANA views as source for my workbook... how to setup profiling for bursting my workbook...

Thanks in advance...

Hi - you probably should create a new thread; bursting is something that third party add-ons do such as APOS. Several scheduling improvements have occurred in 2.6/2.7 versions but you need the BI platform...

Hi Tammy,

Thanks for your reply... Sure will create a new thread if I don't find answer...In this blog https://blogs.sap.com/2017/11/20/asug-webcast-whats-new-in-analysis-office-2.6-recap/ its mentioned it can be used in publication at high level... but couldn't find right article or blog that explains steps for AFO workbooks...So seeking your advice...

Hi Tammy,

as you pointed out in your link, there are new features in office 2.6. Now we are on AfO 2.6 and BO 4.2 SP5 Patch 4... is a bursting feature now available or are we still forced to use third party tools like the APOS one to achieve this functionality? It seems that even the prompts still need to be entered manually. So I don't see any improvement since our update.

When talking to SAP, we are always told that the scheduling for AfO will be improved in the next SP or next AfO version and are urged to move from Broadcaster to BO platform. But in reality, this means we need to invest even more money in third party tools to get an experience similar to Broadcaster. Are there any plans to improve this or will APOS be the default answer from SAP towards customers with bursting needs?

Hi Peter - I don't work for SAP, but my sense is you are right. You can always upvote ideas for this in SAP Influence site at influence.sap.com

Using analysis for office you cannot distrbute your reports directly to the users.

For doing so you have to save it on the BO platform from there you can distribute with the users.

Thanks

Hello Karan

Do you mean the "Scheduling" function on the BO platform, or a different one?

Thanks
